Father-Son Weekend Camp Getaway

WHAT & WHO: We’re inviting brothers, fathers, uncles, grandfathers, and friends to get together with the “son” in their lives for an exciting camp experience in the heart of Austin, Texas.  Whether you’re new to camping or a camping pro, you’ll love the fun, family-friendly activities, the chance to meet new people and spending the night in our luxurious 21,000 square foot Zilker Lodge in the middle of the beautiful Zilker Park.  Kids ages 6-17 and adults ages 18-120 are welcome.

WHY: Did we mention that this entire event is for charity?  It’s true! While you spend quality time with your loved ones, you’ll also be helping Austin Sunshine Camps (ASC) provide free camp experiences to low-income youth and their families.  All proceeds from this event will go directly to ASC.

ACTIVITIES: Father-son weekend camp takes place in the popular Zilker Park, with “Dads” scheduling, supervising and lifeguarding their own boys. The only firmly scheduled events each day will be our morning camp announcements and our meals. The program is designed to promote relationship-building and bonding through adventurous, new activities and shared memories that are sure to last a lifetime.  Optional activities will include canoeing and kayaking, swimming, hiking, ropes course challenges, basketball, gaga ball, carnival games, robot building, volleyball, arts & crafts, pool, foosball, live music, the Zilker Zephyr train, playgrounds, Zilker Botanical Garden, Austin Nature and Science Center, disc golf, UMLAUF Sculpture Garden, and more. Certified instructors will be provided for the ropes course challenges but otherwise, the schedule is yours to create.

SUPERVISION: At all times throughout the weekend, adults will be fully responsible for the supervision and safety of the children they bring.  This includes hiking, lifeguarding and enforcing life jacket requirements in canoes and kayaks.

MEALS: Five meals, starting with Saturday’s hearty breakfast and finishing with a light lunch on Sunday.  Snacks will be provided on all three days. For those who are over 21, you will be provided two drink tickets each night to use during happy hour.

LODGING AND SHOWERS: The Zilker Lodge is equipped with 12 bunk rooms, each with 6 sets of bunk beds (or 12 beds).  We will assign you a bunk room (generally by child’s age), but we are happy to consider your special requests for bunk mates – just give us a call or indicate a preference on your registration form.  The Lodge is also equipped with 20 showers, each with a private changing area.

COST: Early bird tickets are $550 per father-son pair and general admission tickets are $575 per father-son pair.  Each additional adult and/or child is $150 per person. Limit of four people per group.
