We began our capital campaign last year with the completion of Phase 1. Together with Red McCombs, the "Red McCombs Austin YMBL Sunshine Camps at Lake Travis" became a reality. The new facility is beautiful and allows us to serve more campers each session throughout the summer in addition to increasing our ability to serve youth throughout the year in our academically based programs. It is still our goal and vision to build a new camp at Zilker park where we can serve more campers each summer. Our capital campaign will raise funds to build a beautiful building that is new and improved. The expansion will allow for 40 additional campers each week for a total of 280 more campers each summer!
Austin Sunshine Camps was founded in 1928 and our current building hasn’t been renovated since 1958! In addition to no central air conditioning, we sometimes share our space with raccoons! They’re cute and cuddly but we’d love for them to live outside instead of inside with us!
